Vikriti: your current state of balance in Ayurveda
Vikriti is how your doshas are right now. It can differ from your natural constitution, and it can change.
Vikriti (Sanskrit for “changed” or “altered” nature) is the Ayurvedic term for your current state of imbalance: how your doshas are right now compared with your natural Prakriti. It can shift with season, stress, food, sleep and life stage. Vikriti is a traditional framework, not a medical diagnosis.
Sanskrit: Vikṛti
What Vikriti describes
Your Prakriti is your baseline. Your Vikriti is today’s picture. The two can differ. For example, someone with a calm, steady Kapha Prakriti may, during a stressful and sleepless period, show Vata-type signs such as irregular appetite and restless sleep.
What can shift it
- Stress and sleep
- Food and meal timing
- Season and travel
- Life stage
- Where you are in your cycle
Vikriti and your cycle
Ayurveda often describes cycle changes through Vikriti. See how it is applied to late or irregular periods, heavy periods and light periods. These are traditional views, not diagnoses.
How AAVIE uses Vikriti
The assessment asks about your current signs: cycle, sleep, stress, digestion and energy. Your supplement is selected for how you are now, not only for who you are by nature. Because Vikriti changes, you reassess each cycle and your next supplement can change.
Common questions
How often does Vikriti change?
It can change within weeks. That is why AAVIE plans run over three cycles and you reassess each cycle.
Is Vikriti the same as having a condition?
No. It is a traditional way to describe your current balance. It does not diagnose any condition.
